Under 10 White vs East Malvern (R2)

2 May 2017 by HRJ

Our first game at home this season dawned with sunny skies, a great day for footy. The boys were led out by captains Max Bogue & Mitchell Graham.

The match started well for us with Leo unlucky not to score his first major for the Rovers when his snap hit the post after some great lead up work and delivery from the midfield. Our boys were hitting the packs at pace and really getting the hard ball. A couple of quick goals to the opposition left them ahead at the first break.

The second and third quarters were all one way, unfortunately not our way, with the opposition kicking a bag of goals in each quarter. Ol, & Harry G turned a few around in defence, whilst Zac, Allesandro & Addison battled it out in the midfield. Matthew was unlucky not to score after breaking a number of tackles. Nate was a livewire in the forward line and Freddie always looked dangerous. Both Will & Jake were great in defence, but were overrun at times
Our boys learnt a hard and valuable lesson on the importance of manning up in the backline.

The last quarter saw a return to the team spirit we know, the ball was in our forward line for most of the quarter. Another poster denied us our first goal with a number of behinds also kicked. The pleasing point was that at no stage did any of our boys drop their heads or give up. Our last quarter showed the grit and never say die attitude that these boys have developed.

As we say at training, Train like you Play. This also means that we Play like we Train.

Next week we play our neighbours in East Sandy. Lets really lift and show each other what we are made of.

Hampton Rovers Best Mates.
