Under 11 Div 1 vs Bentleigh (R5)

23 May 2017 by HRJ

Round 5 presented our team with a new challenge. After the first 4 rounds, with 3 wins and 1 loss, our promising start to the season saw us get moved up to Division 1.

We were also up against Bentleigh FC who only 2 weeks prior got the better of us. However we looked at the game with optimism. The boys were also very excited about playing on the big home stage at Boss James, plus the first game with a flash electronic scoreboard.

What we did know is that our opponents are a big, hard and physical side. And we knew we had to take our game to the next level to be competitive. We had to dig a little deeper to match their physicality.

Our first half was solid and very competitive. Again we showed our strength defensively and tackling was fierce. We kept the score line to within a goal to half time, and showed everyone that we were very much in the game. While Bentleigh proved too strong in the second half, and many of our boys came off licking their wounds, we showed great courage. It was another magnificent team effort. We were all very proud.

As we face the next step of our journey into Div 1 this week, we hold our heads high and face the oncoming challenge with determination and belief.
