My coaches report this week is quite different. Sunday’s match was a game we won’t forget, but not for good reasons. About 5 minutes before half time we witnessed a terrible accident. Right before our eyes Mitch Nolan had his leg broken badly in a tackle that just went wrong. Due to the length of time it took the ambulance to treat poor Mitch the game was called off. I’ve decided to display the letter he wrote us after. This letter so perfectly represents Mitch’s courage, bravery and true Rovers spirit.
Hi Rovers,
I have been home from hospital now for about two hours and I’m feeling OK but still in a fair amount of pain. I have broken the two bones in my leg, the tibia and fibula.
It looks like I’ll be in plaster for 6 weeks and won’t be able to run for 12.
Thanks to everyone who looked after me on the ground, particularly Justine and Annie. We have a beanie and scarf here which were kindly donated to keep me warm so if you’re missing something please let us know.
A big thanks to the rest of the team for cheering and supporting me when I was getting into the ambulance.
And, also we appreciate all the offers to help out and all those who have showed so much concern for me.
I will try to come to the footy this week to support you and sorry you had to cancel the rest of the game because of my injury. I might be back at school towards the end of this week but probably next Monday.
From,
Mitch Nolan
