Under 11 Div 1 vs St Kilda City (R10)

4 July 2017 by HRJ

Our under 11’s Div 1 side were greeted with winter sunshine at Castlefield Reserve for our round 10 clash with St Kilda City. Our team was led out by our two captains in Freddie who was playing his 50th game along with Anthony. St Kilda City came out of the blocks early and kicked the first 3 goals of the game to put them up by 17 points at the end of the first quarter and seemed to have all the answers despite great efforts of tackling and pressure by our boys. A quick quarter time address and the siren sounded for the start of the second quarter. Despite having several of our experienced players missing due to the holiday break and the opposition seemingly having all the play, our boys rallied to kick the next 3 goals and hold them to 1 for the quarter. Half-time score was 3.4.22 to 4.1.25 and we were right back in it. Despite all our great efforts and hard work in the second half, we just couldn’t go on with it as the opposition went on to kick the next 9 goals to 1 for the game.

What is pleasing is that all our players never gave up and continued to fight hard until the final siren and this is something that we pride ourselves on in our team.

Our team should be very proud of the themselves the way they went about their game and we look forward to a well-earned break and returning freshened up for our final 5 games of the year.

Special mention to Fletcher, Thomas and Lachie for helping us out on the field all day.

Regards, Chris.
