Under 11 Div 2 vs Bentleigh (R3)

9 May 2017 by HRJ

Apologies for the missing reports to date from our team. But we started the year in great form with 2 exciting and strong fought victories against Ormond FC and East Sandy Zebbies.

Round 3 saw us face our most difficult opponents so far in Bentleigh FC at King George Reserve. We had heard whispers these boys were strong, and they were not wrong.

Bentleigh presented a tall, physical and efficient team who turned up to make a statement from the first bounce. But through the cold, wind and rain our boys stood up and faught an epic defensive battle. We knew we had to work hard and stay competitive.

We asked a lot of the boys in these trying conditions. Each and every boy showed tremendous confidence, effort and spirit. Our themes for the day were around the 5 T’s. Teamwork, Thinking, Tackling, Trust and Take it on. The tackling in particular was ferocious and spectacular.

It was a tough day, and while we didn’t walk away with another win, the Rovers showed spirit, heart and promise for an exciting season. So after 3 rounds at two and one, we most certainly ‘have our eyes upon the flag’.
