Under 12 Girls vs St Bedes/Mentone (R13)

31 July 2017 by HRJ

This week saw some more great action again on the field. Eloise got the first points on the board then Alice, Esme, Lottie added to them. With a small team of only 10 from Mentone, many of our girls were on the bench. However, this did give them a chance to catch up on all the gossip, climb all over Callum and sometimes even watch the game.

In second quarter, the action was at the other end of the field and for those that weren’t there it was like watching … ah who am I kidding it was too far away so I took my dog and went to the toilet then got a coffee. Good news though, the blonde gazelle that was our runner told me that her daughter scored a goal, and a behind, sadly I just don’t know if we can trust her.

Besides Daisy, apparently there was great sharing amongst the girls – Georgia got her 1st Goal and Maddie did a massive kick and Liv marked it like a champ.

Leigh told Mia K that she needed 3 goals or she’d have to do 20 push ups. The Tigers got a goal which sent a roar through the crowd.

Sadly though, Mia only got 2 goals and spent the next break doing push ups. Which obviously exhausted Leigh who then needed a mental break so he let Liv handle the coaching.

Fortunately it seemed to work because play ended up back down the other end. As a result the parents again lost interest in the game and started heckling our long limbed runner who seemed to have a lack of interest in actually running.

The girls fought hard in the dying minutes and were rewarded with another goal to Elicia, who’s getting more grunt in her game every week.

Awards to Elicia for hard work and Caitlin (I think) for excellent sweeping, which is a good thing apparently. And great work to everyone for supporting the RCD Foundation and wearing the matching grey ribbons.
