Under 12 Girls vs St Peter’s (R4)

17 May 2017 by HRJ

For someone who knows very little about this whole AFL thing, I think I’m really getting the hang of this! Better still, so it seems are our girls!

Our U12 Girls showed huge improvements in ball handling and as a result we had far more chances to run the ball and spent far less time on the ground. Despite the 53 – 8 final score the competition was a lot tougher than suggested and our girls made them work for every point. Our Midfield got great possession and then well…those St Peter’s girls took it!

Fortunately, our girls gave as good as they got and Sassy, Mia K, Eloise and MIKA COOPER did some brilliant tackles and made Mothers hearts swell across Hampton as they pushed, shoved and ran over those on the ground.

Lottie scored a behind (which makes no sense, because it’s actually “next to” and should be worth more).

MIKA COOPER SCORED A GOAL!!! I cried and the other mothers looked at me in awe for raising such a remarkable girl.

Sassy and Mika both got awards for improvement, guts and determination and didn’t give up showing dogged attack or defence until the final siren.

Leigh made sure no one ran in the wrong direction so receives Most Improved Coach award. Well done Leigh!

I think the girls as a whole showed incredibly good attitude and sportsmanship and are on their way to closer games and hopefully a win soon enough.

You should also know that I’m going for our second ‘official’ complaint this week. The opposition didn’t have a full team so borrowed some of our girls. Which means, essentially, we beat ourselves. Lottie, Elicia, Aliah, Olivia, Maddi, Shanti and Emily unfortunately played for us, as well as against us. What good sports you are.

Can’t wait to see how they go next week! Go Rovers!!

***In a final note the Flockarts have asked me to let everyone know that an official team notification will be sent out shortly, outlining the terms of use for the trademark pending Daisy Dive Roll. If your daughter is thinking about using it in the next game please be sure to check on the guidelines of appropriate use and seek instructions on how to pay full credit to the owner of the trademark.

That is all.
YAY MIKA COOPER!
