Under 14 Div 3 v East Malvern

24 April 2017 by HRJ

What a cracking day it was for round 1 on Sunday. The sun was shining and the dew had already been kicked off the ground by the previous game.

It was great to welcome back some familiar faces in Hugo Lynch & Mitch Lever and welcome some new faces in Sam Chaplin & Will Garbelotto. Whilst we made every endeavour to have the boys fit and rearing to go for round 1, you simply can never prepare yourself fitness-wise for the first round. To make matters even tougher, there was no one sitting behind the coach ready to give some much needed relief.

Harry Officer led from the front kicking 3 important goals in the first quarter and the ins from last year made their presence felt, all making much needed contributions. Gus Perkins showed us some of his brilliance running off the half back line and Sam Stewart showed some excellent football smarts. Lucas McCrae was ever reliable down back and well supported by Nick Quinlan and Tom ‘Skipper’ Reynolds who was impressive both in offensive and defensive movements.

All in all there is a lot we can work on at training this week in preparation for a big round two effort and hopefully 4 points on the board!
