It is tough to not let the score dominate how the game is played.
For 3 quarters of football we outplayed Highett but couldn’t maintain the intensity for the last quarter. We all learn from this and need to make sure we carry this lesson through.
Charlie had a cracker of a game and I’m positive he’s never taken more marks in a game. His work when the ball was on the deck was also outstanding.
I’m never going to get tired of congratulating Tom Pep on his direct attack on the ball. No hands out to the side and no short steps. Take aim at the ball and run straight at it, works most of the time and Tom does it all of the time. Well done.
Darcy wins the endeavour award again. A couple of times on Sunday he made the effort to get to a contest, that should have easily been won by Highett however his determination to make a contest resulted in them fumbling and us neutralising the play. A win!
Sam C and Sam S both stepped up at times and were hammered for holding their ground. Team first and courage exemplified. Fantastic.
Lucas and Steamtrain were great down back and did what was asked. “If we can’t win the ball shut it down” was the instruction and they both showed they could follow team rules. Well done!
I can’t think of anyone that didn’t run hard all game and give a massive effort. Sometimes other teams just lift that little more and grab the flow of the game. Lift your heads for one last effort on Sunday and let’s give the club song another run!
Go Rovers!
