“Well, a week is a long time in football”
Winners last week, but against a much tougher opposition this week we were comprehensively beaten. Having said that, we are all very proud of you boys today. Some great positives to be taken out of the game today. We fought hard all day. The last half of the game was certainly our best. You have to believe in your own abilities, all of you. When you take the game on, you are fantastic!!!
It was great to have three new boys on our list today, sadly a clearance hadn’t come through in time for Joe to play but Zeb ( back after a few years rest ) and Sam were fantastic. It’s not like this every week boys, so hopefully you can sing the song with the boys shortly.
Highlights today were:
1st quarter: The new boys- eager, hard, fantastic. Four goals down in 4 minutes only to be down by 6 by quarter time.
2nd quarter: Liam Kenny to the back line and smashed it all day. Umpires did him no favours being pushed in the back all day, but he was relentless and fantastic.
3rd quarter: Play of the day. Cooper with a great 45 ball from half back into the corridor to Tom, over to Birdman and a great pass to a leading Will Nolan. TAKING THE GAME ON. FANTASTIC. Marcus continues to lead with voice and desperation.
4th quarter: Mitch Hall with unselfish play centering the ball to the hot spot instead of blazing away, Birdman and Warman tackle deep in defence and Will Nolan playing midfield late and having a real impact.
Clearly our discipline has to improve. It has real implications out there in the real world. Look after each other but remember, it takes a bigger man to walk away.
