Hello Rovers Juniors players and families,
I hope everybody has been able to spend their hour in the sunshine (while it lasts) and get some exercise in over the past few days. While it feels a bit like Groundhog Day at the moment, there appears to be a small glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, and hopefully we only have four weeks to go before restrictions are eased.
Since the last time I wrote to you, Kate Robb, our wonderful treasurer, has finalised the estimated revenue and costs for Hampton Rovers Juniors for the year. Kate has also been working closely with SportsTG on processes to ensure payments are seamlessly reimbursed, as well as validating our registration lists to ensure all members are captured.
2020 Registration Fees and Refunds
As outlined in the last update, the Junior Committee advised that we planned to provide our players a refund of somewhere between 75% and 80%. Now that the calculations have been done, the good news is we can confirm that we are able to refund members 80% of their registration fees paid.
As previously explained, the Hampton Rovers Juniors Football Club is not looking to profit from this situation, but we do need to cover some of the expenses that have already been incurred. Therefore, a small administrative fee is required to cover these costs.
Next steps:
- Early next week, Kate will be providing SportsTG with a file containing refund details for all players who paid via credit card.
- SportsTG have advised it will take potentially three to four weeks to process and administer the refunds. As you can appreciate they are completing this process for many sports clubs. We expect the refund to hit people’s bank accounts by early to mid-September.
- If you paid via a method other than credit card (there are around 20 of you) Kate will be in touch to arrange your refund directly. This will happen over the next week or so.
- All going to plan, the aim is to have everyone refunded by mid-September.
We also understand that the current COVID-19 situation has been particularly tough on some families and people’s financial situation can change quite quickly in the current environment. If you are experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19, please get in touch for a confidential discussion.
Able to donate to the Club?
The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) can help
The Committee thanks those people who have already made donations via the ASF to support the Club.
For those members who have indicated they would like to donate their refunded registration fees, first thank you, and second, you can donate your refund (or a portion of) back to the Club via the Australian Sports Foundation’s (ASF) Hampton Rovers Football Club page.
Donations via the ASF are tax deductible. Just click on the ASF Hampton Rovers page and mention that your donation is for “Rovers Juniors” in the “Organisation” box, under “A Little More Info About You” section.
The Hampton Rovers Juniors Committee would be extremely grateful for any donations that will go towards a spectacular 2021 season – especially during these times. Thank you!
Alternative Season
The SMJFL are still working on formats and timings for an alternative season and we will provide more information as it comes to hand. We hope some announcements can be made towards the end of the lockdown period.
