Under 8 Orange vs St Peters (R2)

2 May 2017 by HRJ

The boys played a great team game this week. There was improvement on last weeks match. The boys used the ball well throughout all zones. The coaching group noticed an improvement in looking for a player in a better position and the team first attitude, especially in the forward line. There was lots of occasions where we noticed short kicks from the pockets and the use of handball to a team mate in a better position to score.

We have stuck to only rotating the zones at half time. It seems to be working well, this enables the boys to hear the same constant message from the coaches for a full half of the game. At half time the zone changes are: Forwards move to Midfield, Midfields move to Backline & Backline move to the Forwards.

There was a little bit of bad language used from the opposition towards our team but the instruction was to ignore any bad language and to stay focused on the game.

We have a BYE next week and our last grading match will be against Ashwood Sunday week. I am very pleased how the boys have played the first two weeks, and I believe we will grow and improve as a team as the season progresses. It is going to be an exciting year for the Hampton Rovers Under 8’s ORANGE TEAM.

Goals: 4 C.Tanner , 3 Z.Okalyi , 2 J.Nichols , 1 W.Jones , 1 A.Hare , 1 H.Roberts , 1 N.Jongen
Best Players: Z.Okalyi, C.Tanner, E.Artico, A.Aujard
