The sun was shining and it was a fantastic day for kids football on Sunday. We had almost full schedules at both Boss James and Castlefield Grounds. It was great to see all of the smiles on the kids’ faces with many of our kids singing our song throughout that day with gusto.
My proudest moment for the weekend was seeing our U16 Girls (who in the most part are all new to football) fight out a great win against an experienced East Brighton Vampires Side. Congrats to the girls on an amazing game and a hard fought win. It is great to have girls playing at Rovers in 2017 again. Welcome to the Rovers Family and I hope you have an enjoyable and successful year #OneRovers.
It goes without saying that our passionate volunteers are the engine room of our Club and we need to recognise the fantastic work that our volunteers perform week in week out. This week I would like to single out our fantastic Team Managers. Please take the time to support your Team Managers as without them a lot of what we do as a Club simply won’t function.
Well done to all of our Trainers and Coaches for the time you have spent to get your certifications. Thanks to Matt at Happy Brands for volunteering his office space for our first aid courses.
Watch out for the Rovers Business Directory that will be launched soon. We want our members to support those businesses that support the Club. As a volunteer organisation we rely heavily on the generous donations of our sponsors that help us fund so many things for our kids throughout the year. Please contact us if you want to get your business in the directory.
Social Co-ordinators – we are looking for people in each age group to help be the focal point for getting our teams together for pie nights, At Home with the Rovers, and our major social functions.
Congrats to Lisa Beavan for helping Hampton Rovers get number 1 for the SMJFL Social Spotlight in both Round 1 and Round 2 !! Please keep sending your pictures through to us so we can get them on our website and other social media.
Casino Royale – Please make sure get your tickets for this fantastic event – it’s going to be massive. Tickets are selling fast and it promises to be the biggest and best full Club event ever. We are welcoming Auskick, Junior and Seniors at this event so please support the Club and enjoy what will be an great local event.
Alcohol Regulations
Whilst it was not the Club’s intention, we were in breach of SMJFL rules with respect to the consumption of alcohol during the game on launch night. The Club was issued with, and accepted, a fine by the SMJFL. As a grassroots sporting club we take our responsibilities very seriously and I can assure you that our processes and procedures have subsequently been reviewed and steps put in place to ensure we will not breach in future.
- For the avoidance of doubt for all of our members the SMJFL rule in by ByLaws – 37.1 Consumption of alcohol by any person in any form at a ground (including surrounding areas) or building during SMJFL scheduled matches is strictly prohibited and will be dealt with at the discretion of the General Manager. The consumption of alcohol during training sessions is strongly discouraged.
- Can we remind all members, families and friend that under no circumstance is BYO acceptable.
I look forward to watching many of our teams again this weekend. Please introduce yourself if you see me at the ground and get involved where you can in our community club.
Best Regards
Jason
