Hello parents
Was it winter or full blown spring on Sunday? Wowee, bathed in sunshine in July for a contest we’ve been looking forward to since we last met earlier in the year.
We had to start well and get the jump on a good Prahran opposition. With the breeze we moved it forward nicely. Ryan got the dukes out and converted truly to get us underway. Kian was good early and got us closer to goal with some long bombs. Ben W got on the end of a few inside 50s and converted 2 for the term to add to his yearly bag. Mitch was continuing his marking masterclass. Love to know how many grabs he’s taken for the year. Jody took a cracking mark and goaled as well and we were comfortably in front at qtr time.
Toby C, up from the 9s, was brilliant in the 2nd term. Huddy was everywhere and continued his amazing form. Wes made the leading goalkicker race interesting by adding 2 to his tally. Kaden was getting his hands on it more, a big improver the past few games. Giddy got amongst it nearing halftime with a great goal and at the main change we were nicely placed to go on with it. Charlie was manning up nicely and Ollie was wrapped to be back out on the park with his mates.
There wasn’t a behind score in sight as we raced through the 3rd qtr with another great term. Jake was working hard at the contest. Jimi popped up out of nowhere to get a big goal. Huddy went long after playing on from chf and let the wind do the rest for another big one. Nate didn’t want all the glory to go Huddy’s way, so he put the contest to bed with a big goal. Mikey was really good and finished off the quarter with a big goal courtesy of some great clearance work and link up with Ryan and Jody.
We had a handy lead but knew Prahran would keep coming. Will M was great in keeping the pressure on. Matty C was great in his chasing and pressure, he never gives up. We didn’t trouble the scorers in the last term as Prahran peppered the scoresheet. Alas they left it too late to make up the ground and we ran away to the best side we have played over the past 3 years.
The tasks don’t get any easier as we take on the tough St Bedes outfit in our last h & a contest.
Go Hampton Rovers – best mates!
Cheers Wayno
