End of home and away season celebration – the last kick for a win.
Congratulations girls on giving everyone such a thrilling and action packed game of football once again. As Jacko said maybe you could take it a little easier on us next time. Our hearts can’t take much more.
Right from the very start the match was high on energy and full of great skill from both sides. It was fantastic to see the game move quickly across the ground and our commitment to contest at every opportunity. We used handball and fast running and our defensive work was magnificent.
As a coach what impressed Jacko and I the most was that at no stage did you give up despite the fact we trailed all day bar the last 10 seconds. You kept your heads high and your attitude strong.
That is such an important experience to put in the memory bank both for the joy of the win but also the tenacity to keep going.
HIGHLIGHTS well there were plenty.
Kim’s goal….need I say more.
Seeing the time keeper signaling no to Kim’s goal (or so I thought) then realising he wasn’t signalling no but explaining Kim’s goal counted, the game had finished and we had won.
The team being humble in victory.
Annie coming off the bench in the 1st quarter gathering three quick possessions and creating real attacking momentum.
Shae’s run and attack through the middle.
Eliza’s aggression.
Zoe’s defensive pressure.
Tessa’s composure down back.
Oriana’s goal to get us started.
Jay’s defensive work and run.
Jemma’s bump was a real sign we were not going to get pushed around.
Ciara’s ruck work.
The team just being united in its determination to keep fighting the game out.
Thanks to Holly and Lucy for coming down and supporting as injured players. Hopefully we will see you back next week.
And a big thank you to Dean (Buddy’s dad) who came down and watched despite Buddy not even playing.
Looking forward to seeing you Thursday at training. Also be on the look out for details re finals locations etc.
As I said after the game lets just keep doing what we do well and have fun.
A very proud coach.
