Under 10 Blue vs Ajax (R4)

22 May 2019 by HRJ

Michael got the boys pumped up for a nice early start at 8.30am, with a cool breeze and the sun breaking through the lads were ready to fire.

The Ajax Suns came out hard and the ball was locked in tight around the centre. The opposition slowly got the ball free. After an excellent bone-jarring smother by Shae another was followed by Harry. Some hard tackling and great second efforts by Flynn, The Suns still managed to get the first score on the board.

The boys showed some great determination and managed to equalize through Harry’s persistence and straight kicking. Kobe tried hard and with the help of his teammates saw one of our little speedsters rack up his first – Hewitt added his name to the goal-kicking list.

The second term was like the first with both sides trading tackles. Some good overhead marks followed, and Josh found his way and slotted one through.

The consistent effort from Luke resulted in another goal. The Rovers were getting on top with each boy backing up and supporting their mates.

With our regular runner having his first week off in three seasons, Ben J was admiring the fleet footed Andrew as his replacement. With some fluent movement through the centre; slick Luke handball, Hewitt kick saw Henry score full points. Great play!

The third saw Flynn attacking the ball once again. Some good running through Ben and Lucas showed his skill to get his first. Stricko, Massimo and Lachlan were ever reliable once again.

Some good tight handballs through James N and Liam, the boys’ confidence was rising. James J came through and landed one from long range. The Suns kept trying hard till the end of the third and were unlucky to have another major after Harry smothered again to deny them of a late goal.

The last term saw the Josh duo seeing a lot of the ball. After a solid mark Josh passed to Liam and Flynn got a well-deserved goal. Through solid efforts the Rovers broke free and Flynn took a good mark. Taking his time, Flynn kicked true for full points; two goals was a great reward for his efforts today.

It was hard fought till the end and Adrian dodged and weaved his way to his first with a nice snap. The boys listened well and took instruction today to their credit. Though the help of the volunteers and parents support it was a brilliant to see everyone leave with a smile on their face.
