Hello Hampton Rovers Juniors families!
Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Rohan Bardwell, the new Hampton Rovers Juniors President.
Together with my wife Elizabeth and my son Sebastian, we’ve been living in Hampton for the past six years and love this community. We’ve been a part of the club since Sebastian started at Auskick as a four-year-old, and this year he will be proudly wearing the Green & Gold again in Under 10s.
I’m humbled to be taking over the role of Junior President from Jason Nicholl, who did tremendous job leading the junior club for the past three years, while also excited to continue to build a great club that we can all be proud of. My thanks go to Jason for his valuable contribution over the past five years as an essential member of the Junior Committee.
Junior Committee
Speaking of the Junior Committee, we are actively seeking new faces to join the Hampton Rovers Junior Committee, and to fill some essential Committee and Non-Committee roles.
We are part of a great community with a range of professional skills on offer. We also rely on our parents volunteering and making a great contribution to the Club week in, week out. Therefore, we have some GREAT opportunities to be filled so that we can run the club for your children to enjoy.
Current vacancies are:
- Junior Secretary (Committee Position)
Around 3 to 5 hours a week are required for this role, from March to September. We are looking for a whiz who can provide the appropriate administrative support to the Junior President, Junior Club Committee and sub-committees to ensure the efficient operation of the Club - Vice President (Committee Position)
Again, 3 to 5 hours a week are required, from March to September. This role is the Junior President’s ‘right hand person’ on much of the decision making and helps guide the Club in the right direction - Junior Sponsorship Coordinator (Non-Committee Position)
An important role that will support our Sponsorship Manager to grow the value that we can receive from and give to our valued sponsors, as well as attract new ones. This will take around 2 to 3 hours per week, from February to May - Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing Coordinator (Non-Committee Position)
This is an exciting new role to focus on diversity, mental health and community initiatives. As a new role, this is a blank canvas. The person in this role will have the opportunity to shape it into what they believe it should be, including working with the Love Me Love You not-for-profit organisation across our Seniors and Juniors playing group.
If any of these opportunities, or if you have other ideas, raise your interest, please contact me for more information at juniorpresident@hamptonrovers.com.au. We need your support!
Junior Registrations
Registrations opened up early December and are building fast. We currently have around 440 girls and boys signed up, with a goal of achieving at least 550 junior players for the season.
Following on from a super successful 2019 season with our female junior players, we are keen to continue to build this, and are aiming for another three girls teams for the 2020 season.
Now is the time to register! You can register via the website. And if you, or your children, know of other children who are interested, please encourage them to give it a go. We welcome those who would like to learn more to join us for a couple of training sessions to give if they enjoy it.
Please check out Paul Carrigan’s (Head of Football) report for specific age groups where additional players are required.
Finally, I’d like to thank all families for supporting this great club and I look forward to meeting many of you throughout the season.
Go Rovers
Rohan Bardwell
