What a wonderful weekend in football!
Last week, we had 15 teams (yep, I can’t count for those that noticed my little slip up last week) participate in the semi-finals, which was an excellent result for the Rovers. Win or lose, there were around 300 Hampton Rovers payers who were able to experience having the opportunity to experience finals football – amazing.
Eight Hampton Rovers teams won their matches to progress to Grand Finals over the next two weekends. This Sunday will see our U11 Mixed Division 1, U11 Mixed Division 5, U12 Girls Division 3, U12 Mixed Division 2 and U13 Division 1 teams all play for their Premiership Cups.
On Sunday 4 September, we will see the U14 Girls Division 3, U15 Division 3 and U16 Division 4 teams will play in their Grand Final matches.
We wish all our teams the best of luck. While, of course, we hope that we will be hearing our Club song sung at the end of each of these Grand Final matches, the most important thing is to enjoy the experience with teammates and have fun.
To all volunteers, spectators and parents – please be sure to show great sportsmanship and barrack for both teams in the spirit of the competition. Remember the player and spectator code of conduct. If there are incidents, please raise your concerns with your Team Manager. Do not under any circumstances approach or discuss any issues with opposing team officials, volunteers or players. We all want to ensure we create a fantastic environment for our players and deal with any incidents or concerns through the appropriate processes (but let’s just hope there are none).
Finally, the Rovers Bar at Boss James will again be open on Sunday afternoon from 5.00pm to celebrate the end of the season (and hopefully a few flags). All members are invited to join us for a few quiet celebratory drinks, and for the kids to have a kick on the ground.
Good luck to all our teams, officials, and parents for the weekend. If your team isn’t playing, you are warmly invited to any or all of the matches to support your Club.
Go Rovers
