Congratulations on a great 2023 home and away season
Quick as a flash, our 2023 home and away season has come to an end. Every Sunday, more than 550 players headed out and played with passion, demonstrated great teamwork, had fun and played with respect. These are our Club’s values, and they came through time and time again.
Our youngest players in Under 8s, Under 9s and Under 10s had their Lightning Carnival to finish their season. Congratulations to everyone involved – the Carnival is a great way to end the season and give the kids a different footy playing experience. A huge congrats go to our three Under 10 teams who all came away with flags from their round robin competition.
We have now entered the finals! We have 17 of our teams (including merged East Sandy Rovers teams) securing finals opportunities. This is a great learning experience for all of teams.
The first two finals were last night for U14 Boys Div 1 and Div 2 both playing Beaumaris. It was a pleasure to watch the teams in action down at Cheltenham. Congrats to the Div 1 team who came away with a win and are now through to the next stage! It was a nail biter for the Div 2 game – scores were level at the final siren, thanks to an after the siren goal from our boys. Unfortunately, after extra time, our boys fell short by 2 points. Everyone should feel incredibly proud of how they played!
On Sunday, there will be 15 other opportunities to see the Hampton Rovers / East Sandy Rovers play. Read on for where and when you can head on down to cheer our teams on, but remember to check PlayHQ for any last minute changes.
Finals are an exciting time for all teams – but no matter the result, there is never a more important time to remember that we are all here for the kids and to give them a great opportunity to play and grow.
A reminder that our Season Finale and Team Awards presentation afternoon will be held on Sunday 17 September from 2pm – 6pm at Boss James Reserve. This will be a great opportunity to come and celebrate the 2023 season with your community club. There will be lots of activities – and of course an opportunity for the kids to have another kick at the Boss. Times for team presentations will be shared over the next week.
This will also be one of the last opportunities to see the Boss James Club Rooms as they are. Following negotiations and agreement with the Bayside City Council, the Club Rooms will be undergoing a face lift during our off season. We are looking forward to seeing the ‘new and improved’ Boss James in 2024.
See you around the grounds on Sunday!
Go Rovers!
