That was one crazy (and wet) season launch!
Hello to all our Rovers players and families,
Welcome to Round 4! It’s so great to have footy back again – I have renewed energy when I see our Rovers players, teams and supporters out and about.
A soggy 2022 season launch
While I’ve been in the ‘President’s Chair’ for the past three years, last Friday was my first season launch! They say that good things come to those that wait – and that was definitely the case on Friday. We had it all: our youngest Under 8 players presented with their Hampton Rovers jumper as they embark on their junior footy adventure, kicking the footy under the Boss James lights, the BBQ fired up, the canteen doing a roaring trade, and new and old friends connecting in the club house and at the bar.
It was a great night – even when the rain came! I don’t think I’ve seen bigger smiles on the kids as they played in the rain (apologies for the extra piles of washing when they got home!). Thank you to everyone who came. It’s clear that our Hampton Rovers Juniors values of Passion, Teamwork, Fun and Respect run deep in our club.
Team Sports 4 All
Team Sports 4 All (TS4A) is a local charity that helps vulnerable kids play sports. They look after kids from all over Melbourne, including those in our very own Hampton Rovers Juniors team, by paying for their registration and kitting them out in their footy boots and club uniform.
At registration, members had the opportunity to make a small donation to TS4A. Together with donations made during the TS4A preseason training with the Sandringham Little Athletics Club (SLAC) and the TS4A Super Sunday practice matches with St Bedes Mentone Tigers (SBMT), we have raised an additional $3,381 for TS4A. This will help at least seven kids play community sport for the next 12 months.
Thank you to everyone for supporting this great cause. Special thanks to Mike Cahill and the committee at SLAC and Joe Galati from SBMT for organising the preseason and practice matches respectively.
Mothers Day – Sunday 8 May
To all of our HRJ mums, thank you for everything you do! Whether it’s getting your girls and boys to training and games, remembering the mouth guard, getting the grass stains out of the white away shorts (yes – I know it’s a struggle!), or being a supporter on the sidelines – thank you for being you. What better way to spend Mothers Day than at a Hampton Rovers Juniors footy match? 😉
To all the HRJ players – make sure you spoil your mum, grandmother or special someone in your life on Sunday (and every day!).
Good luck to all the Rovers teams this weekend, but above all, have fun.
Go Rovers
