From the speculation there appears to be 1 certainty in Andrew Brayshaw. But I feel the need to pump up the prospects of the other 4 from my time coaching the lads in both U15 & U16 footy, and subsequently with the Dragons, through the involvement of my son Oscar.
Seb Williams – Has always been a class act, pure footballer and a player you could turn to if we needed a match winner. I find it difficult to comprehend how he has been pigeon holed into a small forward/lockdown role when his name does get mentioned as a prospect. He has so much more to offer both as an inside and outside mid (perhaps emphasis on the outside), or as a running half back – speed, endurance, work rate, run and carry, courage, reading the play, pressure. Hoping the complete footballer and versatility that I see in him would entice clubs to look at him.
Lachie Harris – A player who can impact a contest at speed, who is cat like with his balance and burst acceleration, and is usually damaging with the foot and hand delivery. I still see him as a mid-field beast whereas the Dragons limited his midfield involvement to being a run with player. His ground ball winning ability from congestion is surely a trademark that will entice clubs to look at him.
Will Walker – He is a player deserving of the X-factor tag, who has the agility, speed and endurance to become a modern day tall midfielder, who can be damaging as a third tall up forward with his marking power. He special quality is his ability to turn 90 or even 180 deg at speed. His is a unique prospect and clubs will be enticed by his X-factor
Alfie Jarnestrom – A great reader of the play and decision maker, who has that intangible quality of having time and composure. Plays his best football off half back but can also go forward or be rotated through the mid. His footy acumen and versatility I would think may entice clubs to look at him.
And finally, a concluding comment for Andrew. From starting the U15 GF in the back pocket for Hampton Rovers to potential top 5 pick as a midfielder – he is an example of what hard work, persistence and determination can lead too.
