Blackjack dealer has an up card of 6.
Blackjack dealer eyeballing punter, “are you SURE you want to hit on 18?”
Punter takes a sip of her champagne and replies “Yep! Hit me!”
She’s dealt a 3 of diamonds.
There was plenty of luck running in the majestic Brighton Town Hall on Saturday night for our very first all club event, Hampton Rovers Casino Royale.
Guests were greeted by our two ravishing showgirls and handed a lazy $1,000 chip to try their luck on one of many games. At one end we had the ten-seater poker table filled mostly with blokes and looking pretty much like “Dogs Playing Poker”, sans fur. The cash grab booth to the side of this saw many punters shoving play money in every bodily nook and cranny they could find, whilst also trying to keep skirts from flying up. Screams of “BLACKJACK!” resonated around the room as did the “YOU BEAUTY!” big wins on roulette.
With over 230 of us from all age levels within the club, everyone came ready for a ripping night and the atmosphere was all party. There were plenty of sequins, feathers and fur (that was just the men), the bar was bustling all night and there was an abundance of food to line the tummies.
Our live and silent auctions attracted big dollars, all to reinvest back into this magnificent footy club. To those who were winning bidders on the night, congratulations and thank you for supporting Rovers.
One of my favourite things after a big night is the text banter and “debrief” the next morning. Gives you a good sense of how everyone else found the night and as Deb and I sat at Brown Cow with the traditional hair of the dog Bloody Mary, it was clear that all who came had a ball. What was so great to hear was how many of you talked and had fun with parents and players you didn’t know before. I know I did (and hopefully they’re still talking to me…)
We weren’t alone in organising this event, so our thanks to Junior & Senior Committee members; all our sponsors and donors; the parents who pitched in to help with the clean up and a special thanks to Steve “Ando” Anderson, our Senior President for all his hard work.
Thank you to all of you who came. We rock!
And finally, the people have spoken and WE WILL BE BACK IN 2018!
