By way of introduction, Rohan Bardwell and I have put our hands up to coach the under 8s this season. Having both been involved in Auskick in the past, I am sure we will see many familiar faces and look forward to meeting those we are yet to meet.
Based on current numbers we are expecting to field 3 teams, so are on the lookout for another coach. Please let me, Rohan or Paul Carrigan know if you are interested. Also, we still have some room for more kids, so if you are aware of any kids looking play, it would be great to see them.
Set out below is some important information to get the season started. We are really looking forward to a great season and hope you and your kids are too!
Parents information night
We are holding a parents information evening on Wednesday, 28 February at Boss James Oval club rooms from 7:30pm. We will cover a range of topics in relation to the upcoming season and look forward to seeing you there. The cricket club have kindly made the rooms available and will also open the bar.
Pre season training
We understand the club’s website indicates pre season training is due to commence on Wednesday 21st February. Given the season is not due to start until the 15th of April, Rohan and I are of the view that 8 weeks preseason training for kids of this age is too long. As such training will not start this week. Rather, weekly training will start on Wednesday 7th of March at 5pm at Castlefield Reserve, Ludstone St.
Parent help
We will cover this in more detail at the information night, but as you would expect, it takes a lot of work to get the kids on the field each week. We will need volunteers for each team including team managers, assistant coaches (a couple of parents have already volunteered to assist, so thank you), runners, umpires, etc etc. It would be great to see as many people as possible to help out as best they can.
