Lockdown 6.0

6 August 2021 by Rohan Bardwell

The Victorian Government has announced revised COVID-19 restrictions. Victoria has entered a 7-day lockdown from 8.00pm, Thursday 5 August 2021.

There are five reasons to leave home:

  • Shopping for essential food and supplies (within 5km from home)
  • Care and caregiving
  • Exercise (up to two hours per day, within 5km from home, with one other person or members of your household)
  • Authorised work or study
  • Get vaccinated.

Face masks must continue to be worn inside and outdoors, except in your own home or if you have an exemption.

What this means for our footy
All training, matches and social gatherings are cancelled until further notice. That means no games on Sunday and no training.

While our players are encouraged to exercise within the restrictions (up to two hours per day, with one other person or members of your household, within 5km from home), there is to be absolutely no team training and no use of HRJ equipment.

Any unauthorised training reflects poorly on the club and can potentially result in significant fines. Just don’t do it.

Training videos for individual players can be found on our website. Players are encouraged to stay active during the lockdown.

Next steps
The SMJFL will meet with Club Presidents, including our club, to discuss options for the rest of the season. Updates will be provided following this meeting.

Looking after yourselves and each other
Please look out for each other. We are a strong community. Wear your Rovers gear when you do leave your home (for one of the five reasons) and give a wink and a wave to your fellow Rovers on the streets.

More updates will be provided as soon as further information is available.

Stay safe
