This year the Hampton Rovers Football Club helped over 440 kids from a whole range of abilities, backgrounds, schools and friendship groups come together to wear the “gold and the green” and to play the game they love. We hope they all return in 2018 and along the way make some life long memories, friends and have a lot of fun doing it. I would like to thank all of my committee who volunteer their time to make this club run. To our coaches, team managers and all game and training day helpers I thank you for your generous support and look forward to seeing you all in 2018.
This season has been another significant step in the rebuild of the junior element our club put in place 3 years ago. This year with the introduction of girls footy and a stronger relationship from Auskick through to Seniors helped our player numbers increase by over 100. Our alliance with East Sandy (whilst still evolving) has been very positive to allow our older kids to play competitive football and continue to learn under some fantastic coaches. The highlight of this alliance is the U17 boys winning the D3 flag on the weekend. Congratulations to all involved. A strong performance by the boys on the day and a well deserved win. My favourite part of the game was the fact that the coaching staff played all 30 boys so they could all have a go. #respect
As we start to look to wind down the weekly football activity for 2017, we are already planning for 2018 with the announcement of expanding our girls program and building on more teams at our younger age groups. We would welcome any and all new players and volunteers to the club. Please contact us via the website or registration channels.
The newsletter will continue throughout the off season (though not weekly) to keep everyone up to date with all that is going on. 2018 promises to have more fun than before for players and families:
– A great whole club event building on the success of Casino Royale
– At Home With The Rovers with its famous raffle
– The return of food trucks
– Night Football again
– Friday Night Local
– New improved pie night format
See you all in 2018.
