Hello Rovers Families,
I hope everyone is keeping well.
Well after glorious weather and a Sunday full of football last weekend, unfortunately we are now in a lockdown that will (hopefully) finish at 11.59pm, 3 June.
Based on the Victorian Government’s directions and AFL Victoria advice, the SMJFL immediately:
- Suspended all training for clubs, umpires and all other league programs, until further notice, and
- Suspended all matches and social gathering events, until further notice.
- Round 7 of the SMJFL season, Sunday 30 May, will serve as a bye round (meaning all games cancelled this coming Sunday).
The Hampton Rovers Juniors Committee shares the SMJFL’s main priority of the health and wellbeing of all players, coaches, umpires and volunteers. Please, if you or a family member have any symptoms at all, get tested. If you are eligible for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, I encourage you to consider getting vaccinated.
Like all Victorians, I’m desperately hoping it will only be a 7-day lockdown so we can all get back to enjoying community football ASAP.
For all our members and kids out there, take the opportunity to keep training, abiding by the State Government’s rules. Remember you can still access all the fitness and training videos that were created during the last COVID lockdown(s).
For all our players, keep the footy in your hands each day. Practice handballs and kicks with your brother, sister, or mum or dad. We will be back before you know it!
And a special shout out to Will Langford (pictured with the U12s) who reached his 50th game milestone last weekend, and also secured a great win with the U12s. There will be lots of milestone matches to celebrate in the coming weeks – can’t wait to see you all out there!
Stay safe and look after each other!
Go Rovers
