The weather gods were smiling again on the weekend. What a great day to play the game we love. Some solid results and some very close games that got the hearts pumping. We had the added bonus that the better weather has helped our playing grounds recover and we hope to get permission to be back on Castlefield asap.
TWO GREAT CAUSES
This weekend also marked the round of two of my favourite charities. Saturday night saw the TeamSport4All (TS4A) fundraiser. The fundraiser was held locally and well supported by our extended Hampton Rovers community. We, like many local clubs, support the great work that TeamSport4All does to financially help kids play sport that may not ordinarily get that opportunity. Hampton Rovers has several players every year playing from the program and the social impact is massive. Well done TS4A!! If you would like to sponsor a child to play sport, or generally donate to a great cause, please head to their website.
Sunday also saw the SMJFL governed RCD Foundation Round played. Hampton Rovers was again a super site for the RCD Foundation, raising much needed funds for brain cancer research. Nothing is more confronting than a sick child, especially when they are close to your community. On Sunday afternoon, we received the devastating news that a young boy in our Bayside community has been diagnosed with brain cancer. He’s a former Rover. ‘Once a Rover, always a Rover’ and our thoughts are with the family.
If you’d like to help, please donate to the RCD Foundation to turn around these terrible statistics. Every dollar to the RCD Foundation is funding research and lifesaving programs for our kids.
Thanks to all that supported the RCD Foundation Round and to those that donated, purchased beanies and footies, and gave pledges for the number of goals kicked by their team. A huge thanks to the five Rovers RCD Champions that donated $1 for each goal that Hampton Rovers Juniors kicked on Sunday – that was 143 goals in all (well done goal kickers).
THE COUNTDOWN IS ON
We are now approaching the final weeks of the season. It becomes even more important to us that all of our members remember to embody our Club Mantra “Passion, Teamwork, Fun and Respect”. It’s always about the kids. We all want them to continue to enjoy the great friendships, experience and memories the game will help them build. Enjoyment and safety are always a priority. Thanks for your continued support. I look forward to seeing many of you on the weekend.
Passion, Teamwork, Fun and Respect

PS: – we still need more volunteers to be able to operate effectively for next season (both committee and non-committee positions). Please send me an email if you are interested.
