Another massive weekend of footy and community-centric fun for all at Hampton Rovers over the weekend. This happened in spite of the terrible weather that greeted us on Sunday. I had the absolute pleasure to join our head of football and many parents in cheering on our U8 and U9 teams in the Lightning Carnivals. The kids gave it their all with a mixed bag of results but smiles on all of their faces. We finished the Lightning Carnival off with presentations at the club and one of the loudest renditions of the club song all year to finish off the 2017 playing season for these age groups.
The weather improved slightly as the day went on with great footy being showcased both home and away. Most of our teams are now in their final spots on the ladder with our under 12 girls team being in top form going into the finals and certainly a great team to come and watch in coming weeks, especially given it’s their first year of football.
Sunday night we hosted our last and biggest AHWTR for 2017 and probably the biggest in recent years. Thanks to all those that made it to the club to support us – especially after such an arctic day. Our raffle was a huge success with our prizes going to well deserving members of the Rovers community: Graeme Carson, Bec Wilson and Bill Hare. The night was a great success for the club and we will look to keep a Sunday night option on the calendar for 2018. Here’s a selection of photos from the night.
This Sunday marks the Lightning Carnival for the Under 10s and the final home and away round for 2017. For those that will make the finals I will see you at your games as will many of our Rovers faithful. This year Rovers has the privilege to host finals at Boss James including the division 1 finals on Sunday the 3rd of September. I would really like to see all of our members support not only our own teams that make the finals but also come and watch on the finals days and support the final weeks of football for 2017.
Our Presentation Day is on the 27th of August this year so please look out for more details soon and make sure you put it your diary to celebrate the year with the Rovers Community.
Looking forward to hearing our song a few more times in the coming weeks.
