President’s Report – Round 3

14 May 2019 by Jason Nicholl

The season is starting to really get in full swing now with round three coming and going. It was fantastic to see many Mums enjoying their special day on Sunday with the extended Rovers family. We’ve heard it said that it takes a village to raise a child, and I love seeing this come to life at the Hampton Rovers. Once again, we had a wide range of results this round, but still plenty of fun and smiles. My highlights had to be all of the Rover Mum photos that were shared, the Under 18 girls winning under their 2018 premiership flag, and our smallest Rovers starting to learn the club song.

Merchandise – show your colours!
We are expecting a call any day now from the upcoming Melbourne Fashion Week to feature our Rovers merch! The Rovers hoodie, cap and umbrella have all become essential footy items at Boss James, Castlefield, at footy fields across the area and even down Hampton Street. To show your colours, jump on the Rovers shop website or contact your Team Manager. Caps and umbrellas can be purchased from the Castlefield and Boss James canteens on match day.

Rovers Local
Rovers Local is back this Friday, 17 May. What’s Rovers Local? It’s a great, relaxing night where we open the Club at Boss James for those that would like to come, meet new people, catch up with friends and enjoy a drink after work. Order a pizza or Uber Eats and get amongst the Rovers community. The bar opens from 5pm.

Night of nights! Hampton Rovers 90th Birthday Celebration
Lock it in and get your tickets today! The year’s Hampton Rovers Gala Ball will celebrate 90 years of the Rovers, and 40 years of the Rovers Juniors. We have much to celebrate! Limited tickets are available, so buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are available on the Rovers website now.

Seniors Rovers Lunch
Who needs a corporate box at the MCG when you can enjoy lunch at Boss James, followed by a competitive Rovers Seniors match?! At every Rovers Senior home game, we host a lunch that is open to the public (bookings are required). You are encouraged to get a group together, check the senior draw and book a table for a great afternoon. The bar is open over lunch and closes during the Senior game. The food’s amazing and the day is good value for money. Most importantly, it supports the club. This week the Seniors play AJAX at home. Lunch is from 12 noon with food from 12.30 sharp. If you have any questions on booking please feel free to contact me for help.

Child Safety – there’s nothing more important
This weekend is the last weekend to provide your working with children check, coaching accreditations and other required certifications. We take the safety of all of our kids very seriously, as does our governing league the SMJFL. After round four (this Sunday), the club will be fined for each person that does not meet the required standard/certifications in Everproof (the SMJFL compliance system). As a non-for profit volunteer club we do not want to get fines for items that should be straight forward to achieve. A big thank you to all of those volunteers that have helped us already. If you haven’t provided your WWCC, accreditations or certifications to your Team Manager as yet, please do so this week.

High five to our volunteers!
Thanks again to all of our volunteers. Things are really starting to work well now as everyone gets into the season and their roles. Many hands make light work! Please let us know if you’d like to help.

Wishing you all a great game this week.
