Oh we do like to be beside the seaside…… what a great weekend on many levels. We started our weekend with a great social gathering at our first At Home With The Rovers #AHWTR for season 2017. It was great to see the support from our community for the Rovers. In turn we were supporting Picasso’s one of our many sponsors with Pizzas all night. Please look at our social calendar to support future events including the Rovers Local.
On Saturday I was lucky enough to host a table of passionate U8 parents at the Seniors home game lunch at Boss James. Thanks to all those parents that attended and supported the club as a whole as well as taking advantage of what is a fantastic feed and a true local secret. We will continue to invite age groups throughout the year so please look out for it. Anyone is welcome at any of the home game lunches and I encourage you to get to one this year. The day was wrapped up with our Senior side getting across the line in a thriller by 1 point.
Now for the football and what a weekend it was. I was lucky enough to see 7 games across the day on Sunday with mixed results on the scoreboard but improvement across the board for our teams. The win for our U12 girls was one of many highlights. Congrats girls, we are very proud of you. With 6 games at both Boss James and Castlefield we needed to have a third ground in play to fit all of the football in which is a great challenge to resolve as a club.
This weekend we have we have the Red Shield Appeal. Last year Hampton Rovers broke a donations record and we hope to do this again this year. The Senior club will be on the corner of Bluff/South and South/Hampton Streets so please give to support a great cause. Our juniors will be going door to door throughout our local community in their playing groups. This event is a key learning for our players to support the local community and those less fortunate. I really encourage our parents and children to support this effort. #Teamwork #Respect
Finally – I would like to congratulate those that are taking photos and writing match reports as they just get better and better every week. If you haven’t read the U12 girls report can I please ask you do so.
See you all around the grounds this weekend.
Best Regards
Jason
