Thanks to all that made the effort to attend “At Home With The Rovers” and congrats to our raffle winners on the night. Whilst the evening was a bit cold and wet we did get a modest crowd to support the club. Fundraising at events like these really helps the club provide services for our kids without significant increases in fees. Please make sure you support the club events and in doing so meet some great people whilst having some fun in the process. With only two weeks to our major fund raiser of the year please can you get your tickets TODAY!
With my son’s game being first up on Sunday at Boss James I got to see a lot of football over the day on Sunday including some teams win for the first time this season. Seeing the kids have fun and get win is why we all volunteer to do what we do. To all of our volunteers thank you for all you do. Doing just a little bit makes a big difference. Without our volunteers we won’t have a club. On behalf of the kids at Hampton Rovers Football Club – I thank you!!!!!
You may have noticed I sign off with our club mantra each week. It’s a nice tag line but it means a lot more when you think about why we have it. There is a saying that it takes a village to raise a child. The success of Hampton Rovers and especially our kids is no different with the Rovers Village #onerovers. We all want a club that is open, trusted, reliable and most of all provides a safe environment for our kids to have fun. As a club we love people helping, encouraging and suggesting how we can improve the experience for our kids. We also have put in place rules and procedures to ensure we can continue keep our Rovers Village great. Our mantra is more than just 4 words and we need to all be mindful of its purpose and ensure we all live up to it.
Passion – I love our club and what we do for our kids to enable them to play a game they love. It’s great to see how our parents enthusiastically help on training nights and during the weekend. The club song sung with gusto after a great win and our parents cheering on the kids in a positive and encouraging way. Wearing our Rovers merchandise to show you are part of the Rovers tribe.
Teamwork – Our Rovers community always finds a way to support our events, training and game day activities. Our squads that include everyone in an age group for the bettering of each individual as well as the teams. Squads also broaden the friendship groups. Player movement and rotations to ensure everyone gets a go and everyone can contribute to the overall result. We always need more volunteers so please let us know if you can help.
Fun – On the field and off the field being supporting and inclusive of everyone. From our launch nights to our friendly Friday night Rovers Local events we try and build a welcome environment for not only the kids but also the parents. As our kids grow up, change schools and even friendship groups often playing for Rovers is the one constant that binds us all together. Making sure we have fun on the field too is important and that our players can learn and compete in a level suited to their development individually and collectively. Parents – have some fun at the Gala and get your tickets now.
Respect – The cornerstone of our club. From not wearing your boots in the clubrooms rooms to always shaking an opponent’s hand win, loss or draw it’s all about respect. Thanking the volunteers that help run our fantastic club to giving back via events like the Red Shield Appeal. Being respectful is one of the best parts of the Rovers Culture and I hope everyone embraces it – today and into the future!!
See you all at the games this weekend. Don’t forget your Gala tickets. Please support the club!
Kindest Regards
Jason
