For all those that took my advice to buy a Hampton Rovers Umbrella ahead of Sunday’s weather – congrats. To those of you that thought I was joking about the long weekend weather change…. welcome to Junior Football (and get your umbrella today from our website). It’s fair to say that the weekend was arctic footy at its best. Playing conditions ranged from horizontal rain, to mud, lightning, hail and even some sunshine over the course of the day. Melbourne sure did give us a classic football day! Even with the challenging weather I got to see more smiles than on some of our best weather days and got to witness some very good football indeed. Well done to all those that got to sing the song and we are proud once again to all of our players and families for the spirit in which Rovers played and supported on the weekend.
As we head towards the holiday season we will often see more player movement and sharing than normal weeks and we will always welcome players that are not going away helping other teams out as we play through that period. Please make sure you work with your coaches and team managers in order to confirm your availability (or not) to play in your own age group plus any others.
Friday night heralded the return of Rovers Local with some of our faithful taking advantage of the hospitality towards the end of training. Please watch out for announcements around opening times. This Friday we will be open again so please come down and enjoy a Rovers evening and a laugh with friends and family.
For those wanting to fill their social calendar please pencil in Saturday the 28th of July when the Seniors will host Junior Parents at the fantastic home game Rovers lunch. If you’re interested please contact your team managers or myself directly. Lunch is from 12.30 – 2.15 pm at Boss James and costs $30 per head and most people will stay on to watch the Seniors play at home. The food is fantastic so please support us and book your tickets now.
After this we have AHWTR on Sunday the 5th of August after the U8/U9 lightning carnivals which is always a great night. Please also add this to your calendar as it always is a great night after the young ones finish their season.
Looking forward to seeing you all out and about (with your umbrellas) on Sunday.
Passion, Teamwork, Fun, Respect.
Best Regards
Jason
