Rovers are looking great in 2017

13 March 2017 by Paul Carrigan

Hampton Rovers Juniors update March 2017PASSION TEAMWORK FUN RESPECT

40 days, 18 hours, 35 minutes, but who’s counting??????

NUMBERS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH for early March, HUGE START TO 2017, CONGRATS TO ALL.

First things first, special acknowledgements: Angus Graham and the mighty Under 14 lads. This group within our club are unsung heroes, minimal fuss, the coach loves his boys and they respond and love him in return. Watching them go about training last week was wonderful to watch, these guys know each other well and the banter between players and coaches was first class, keep up the grand work under 14 guys.

The Under 16 squad are tripping over themselves with the amount of legends in the coaching staff, great community servants and a core group of lads have shone over the last month. Ralph, Stu and Marty continue to expand the hearts and minds of the list, East Sandy Rover Under 16 are heading north always.

Mentions go out to Tim Hall, Rego manager, Amy Stokes, TM Manager, Andy Gathercole, Managing girls footy, Kabel Davis looking after apparel just to name a few on the committee that have their heads down and paddling hard. Troy Morris is deep sea fishing, just waiting to land the big one, hang in there Troy.

Gareth Adams will coach Under 16 girls footy this year, the numbers are 23-24 and the girls are having a ball. Gareth has vast experience working with the girls and we could not wish for a better mentor.

Leigh Whitney joins the club as coach of the Under 12 girls who all show real passion for the game and raw emotion to train and learn, good luck Leigh.

The Under 8 squad are on the verge of 3 teams with 56 registrations at present, we are looking for coaches to fill the void at present so please consider this option.

The Under 9s are also looking at another team as we only had the 1 team last year and more enquiries are rolling in. Al is doing a great job, we will need a second coach also. Remember the love heart when setting up a drop punt.

The Under 10 coaching staff have the lads in a great space and the feedback from training is nothing but positive as expected with this awesome group.

The Under 11 squad will roll out this week and Tim Sutherland & Dave Burton are super keen to get things rolling with several new faces within the squad.

Ash Roberts has taken over the reins of last year’s runners up in D1 in the Under 12. The guru coach has stamped himself on the list which includes 12 new faces of which 7 new lads come from Brighton Beach JFC and have fitted in well.

The 13s have already had an Intra-club game and showed plenty including a few boom recruits to add to the treasure chest. 21 April under lights at the Boss can’t come quick enough. Hotts has his charges in raptures already thinking of the unfurling of the Mighty U12D2 flag from 2016.

The 15s have merged with East Sandy and the numbers are looking like 3 teams with plenty of promise for all lads. 63 regos with a further 10-12 having trained, the plan is to have 2 x D1 teams & 1 x D3-4, more info to come.

The Under 17 crew have trained twice now, we are in desperate need of a coach and few more players would also be handy.

Monday night Aths track sessions are 2 weeks away, 30 mins run/stretch and 30 min static skill drill, great way to meet kids in older and younger age groups and get the kids off the couch for an hour extra exercise and skill focus. More info to come via TMs.

The Mighty Rovers are looking good for 2017, the coaches are keen, the players are all over it and the committee looks like a duck in water – calm on the surface & kicking like crazy below.

ALWAYS FUN ALWAYS SKILL ALWAYS RESPECT

Cheers Caggs
