Season 2024

14 April 2024 by LisaB

Hello Hampton Rovers Junior Families and Players,

Welcome to the 2024 season with Round 1 kicking off this Sunday 14 April. Lots of planning has taken place to get ready for the season, and I’d like to thank the current and extended committees for everything they have done.

I’d also like to thank all the coaches and assistant coaches for getting their teams prepared for the season ahead with pre-season training. To date, we have just under 550 kids registered to play, making up 29 teams (9 merge teams with East Sandringham). I’m really excited for our players and can’t wait for the first bounce (ball up) this weekend.

Parents should be aware of some important changes this year around safety and caring for our players. The SMJFL has adopted the AFL Concussion Guidelines and Return to Play Protocols. (See more including a link to the guidelines here)

I would also like to welcome Sam Bingley (Dad of Edward in U11s) to the Hampton Rovers Juniors Committee, who has joined as Head of Football. Sam will be supporting our coaches and driving our football program. Please join me in welcoming Sam to the Committee and providing him with support for this important role. Sam comes with a wealth of experience, having worked in and around sports for his entire career.

I’m looking forward to another exciting season, which will be my last as Junior President. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing our young players having fun, playing sport with their friends and developing their social skills over the journey. I wish all families and players the best of luck this season and remember its all about the players having fun and enjoying this great game of ours.

Passion Teamwork Fun Respect

Rohan Bardwell
Junior President
