This week is National Volunteer Week, a time to thank our volunteers and recognise the powerful impact volunteers make in our community.
It would be impossible to get 550 Hampton Rovers Juniors players out playing every week if it wasn’t for the work of our volunteers. Every contribution is valuable. Our coaches, timekeepers, team managers, merch managers, trainers – you name it, every volunteer contribution helps keep our community-based club running. Thank you.
A special thanks to the Hampton Rovers Juniors Committee members. It is the work behind the scenes that is often not recognised, yet is essential to ensure that we run a successful season. My heartfelt thanks to go:
– Steve Nelson, Head of Football
– James McIntyre, Secretary
– Alisdair Smyth, Operations Manager and Compliance
– Christian Carnovale, Technical Coaching Director
– Kimberley Bartal, Registrations
– Michael Curtis, Treasurer
– Jade Ghoukassian, Child Safety and Incident Officer
– Elizabeth Bardwell, Communications Manager
– Jeanette Boyd-Turner, Equipment Manager
– Meg Lester, Merchandise Manager
Some of our valuable Committee Managers will be officially resigning from their positions at the end of this season. If you are interested in joining the Committee, or stepping into a bigger volunteer role, I strongly encourage you to get in touch with me. It’s a rich and rewarding experience to be contribute to the community, and to our players, in this way.
While on volunteering, a reminder to ensure that your volunteering credentials have been recorded properly. All volunteers, no matter your role, must be registered with the SMJFL via PlayHQ and have a valid working with children check.
I’m looking forward to seeing you out at our games on Sunday, and thanking many of our volunteers in person.
See you soon,
Rohan Bardwell
President
