Under 10 Orange vs East Sandringham (R1)

30 April 2019 by HRJ

The weather was a little fresh starting off today, but that didn’t stop the enthusiasm from all players. New guernsey numbers were on display and you could feel the excitement in the air. Playing the East Sandy Zebras is always competitive and today was no different.

At the end of the first quarter the scores were level with Finn scoring the first goal for the game and the season!

There was no change on the scoreboard by the end of the first half, but there had been a lot of quality play from the team.

In the third quarter, the Zebras got away from us on the scoreboard but a last minute goal from Baxter ensured we were still in the competition.

By the time the siren sounded we had put through a few behinds making the final score 33 to 16 in the Zebra’s favour.

Throughout the game everyone gave it their all and some stand out performances were seen; consistent marking from Eddie and Sam, long kicks from Thomas and Parker, and brilliant spacing and tackling from Mannix and Anthony.

Game day awards went to Baxter, Thomas, Mannix and Anthony. Thank you to all those who came along and a special thanks to the parents who helped take on a volunteer role this week. The kids wouldn’t be able to play without the help of everyone, so give yourselves a pat on the back.

We weren’t able to sing the song today but I’m sure there will be plenty of weeks to come where we will sing it loud and proud.

Well done all.
