Our final home game for the year had us playing against Ashwood who we had a 1-1 record against this year. Sonny & Harry were our captains for the day.
Once again due to some late pull outs, we yet again played with no bench.
In the first quarter, kicking against a slight wind, Ashwood started well and had 2 goals on the board within the first 6 mins. We kicked a late goal in the first term to reduce the margin to 7 points at quarter time.
In the second quarter, Chris W starting in the ruck again and was getting on top of his taller ruckman. Our runners in Harry, Seb and Sonny were causing Ashwood trouble which resulted in us taking the lead at halftime by 5 points.
In the third quarter, we made a couple of changes which backfired, as Ashwood controlled the entire quarter and kicked cleared by 20 points at 3/4 time.
In the final quarter, we moved the magnets around again and the boys put on a brave effort in the last quarter but couldn’t peg back the lead. In the end, we went down by 26 points.
Great performances this week came from Baxter, Tristan & Theeran when in defence. In the midfield, I would think that Harry had the most touches in a game this year and Jade had the most marks by a player this season. Chris battled well in the ruck. Seb had a strong game on the wing and Sonny did plenty of running across half forward.
Well done to Harvey & Jack S on getting on the goal kicking list for the year. Both goals were very impressive.
