Under 12 Div 1 vs Prahran (R14)

15 August 2019 by HRJ

The game this week was against the boys from Prahran. We always have a good tussle with these boys and momentum and winning form was the key to the contest. We’re two weeks out from a finals campaign so all the positives are what counts. The horrendous weather was nowhere to be seen, although the ground had scars of the storms.

Giddy Z and Harry W were our captains for the day.

We played consistent football in the first half. We scored 3 goals in the first, 3 behinds in the second. Keegan M had all of the goals in a great first half. The passages of play where we linked up and shared the footy is what it’s all about. It shows our improvement and development of team play and support for team mates.

The midfield work that Chris has done with the group is starting to become natural and automatic. This is where we give our forwards first use of the ball.

The second half was about consolidating our lead and also playing around with a few positions to see the boys play different roles. This becomes important and adds to our strengths if the need arises to play some boys in different positions. Keegan M made it four goals and Harry B chipped in with another to see us hold the opposition off in the final term.

Award winners for their great games were Giddy, Ben W, Huddy and Mitch R.

It was a solid performance across the whole side. All the boys played well and we need to continue with an even team performance this week. We want to smack the first final head on with our skill, run and amazing effort that we’re renowned for.

Let’s all stay healthy this week and have a positive training session.

Go Hampton Rovers – best mates.

Cheers
Wayno
