Under 12 Orange vs Waverley Park Hawks (R8)

6 June 2018 by HRJ

Hampton Rovers 3.2 (20) def. by Waverley Park Hawks 13.8 (86)

What a difference a day makes.

On Saturday the boys were back and flying against the Western Australian, Wimberley Downs team winning in style in the composite 12’s team 97 points to 3.

It was a great week of footy for the boys as they were provided an opportunity to play an interstate team and demonstrate they are a very good team.

On Sunday we showed some fantastic fight and demonstrated how we had learned what was required from going up 2 grades in one season.

While the scoreboard indicated the Hawks had it all their own way, I was very proud of the way our boys fought it out for 4 quarters.

This is a great team of boys who have shared success and are now learning at the higher level that we need to be more than strong attackers.

On the weekend we played the boys in their natural positions and in new spaces to continue the team development.

The boys should be very proud of the step up they took this week prom the game against Oakleigh. I m very sure in another week or 2 the new pace will be understood and we will be applying our trademark pressure and streaming down the wing in attack.

Well done boys our footy education continues.

Enjoy the long weekend

Go Rovers!

David
