Following on from one of our best training sessions we’ve had so far this season, our team was certainly up and about for our Round 11 away encounter with Prahran. Having both won and lost against them during the season we were assured of a really tight contest with both sides evenly matched across the ground. Our pre-game centred around better decision making, being stronger in the contest and making every moment and opportunity count.
The first quarter didn’t disappoint with both teams attacking the ball and applying lots of pressure in the contest. The siren sounded and the opposition were two goals in front. The second quarter was all Rovers as we held the opposition goalless and kicked one ourselves to be seven points down at the long break. After a quick chat and a couple of changes to the board we were back on the ground raring to go. The second half saw the opposition kick away and eventually win the game by just over 3 goals but we certainly never gave up all day and fought out the game incredibly well.
I know I say it every week but I am so very proud of each player in this group in the way they go about their footy both on and off the field. We look forward to another terrific training session this week and our next encounter at home against the ladder leaders in Mordi Brae.
Rovers 4.1-25
Prahran 7.5-47
