Under 13 Div 6 vs St Paul’s McKinnon (R5)

28 May 2019 by HRJ

Walk before you run, they say.

This team is beginning to trot now, we always look at the foundations of building a team. Winning your own position, playing contested football, be hard at the ball and protecting your teammates and celebrating success. We witnessed these in spades on Sunday.

Even though we only kicked one goal and well-done Charlie, the elation on the boys faces and parents alike was just fantastic!! The way the team got around Charlie after that goal was sensational.

But football is four quarters. We continually seem to have momentary lapses of concentration and this is where we are being beaten. Being fit and understanding the game plan and instruction is critical.

There were so many highlights, regardless of the score, we are getting better. On ball pressure and tackling are improving and once again Taro, Camdyn and Anastasi are leading the way. Our backline was so valiant and in particular Christian, Marco and Luca are getting better every week in the toughest positions on the ground. Solid contributors included Darcy, Angus and Kai.

Down on numbers once again, and down on fitness, it is always going to be an uphill battle we need your support as much as possible for this team to succeed. We are now training twice a week, Tuesday nights from 7.00 to 7.45 at Castlefield, where fitness will be addressed and finishing off with a practice match with the parents. We would love to see you there!!!

Training Friday nights will now finish at 6.00.

Go Rovers!!!

Hampton 1.0.6
St Paul’s 7.14.56
