Under 14 Div 1 v East Brighton Vamps (R8)

6 July 2019 by HRJ

Rovers 3-8-26 defeated by East Brighton Vampires 5-8-38

Cold and undermanned as we turned up at Hurlingham Reserve.
Real keen to beat Vamps as we hadn’t done this in 2 years, with several OS catching sun we knew we needed to be at our best to win.
We welcomed Jamie Delaney into the team and the plan was to go with him for a half until Oli turned up. This worked well, and we found ourselves in from half way through the third term.
It was fast & hard, plenty of tackles. Wet weather although no rain, plenty of damp grass and mud across half forward.

Our midfield and a handful of backs kept us in the game. A lapse of concentration for 2 mins and Vamps had arrested control back and lead by 10 pts at three quarter time.
Vampires out played us in the last and could have beaten us by 20+. They didn’t, they won by 12.
I look forward to the return game when we will play them in round 15.

Well done to all players that played.

GO ROVERS!
