Under 14 Div 1 vs Beaumaris (R6)

4 June 2019 by Paul Carrigan

It takes 4 quarters to beat a good team that will play finals like the Beaumaris Sharks, at half time the score was Rovers 7 Sharks 20, we were in the game, the Sharks poor kicking had given us some life.

In the second half Big O rearranged the deck chairs, Cecil went forward, Max went to CHB, Ben and Josh came to the party in the second qrt and we started to win more contested ball. We looked good in patches not like the previous week against East Malvern.

It’s a learning thing, we said we would go harder for longer, this didn’t happen although we outscored them by a point after half time.

Plenty to like about our game, but the Sharks settled into the rhythm before us and carried momentum throughout.

What we did well
• listen to instruction
• settled in the second quarter
• stuck to game plan

Things we need to improve:
• defensive spoiling
• starting hot
• tackling, we didn’t stick these.
