Under 14 Div 1 vs Mordi Brae (R4)

7 May 2018 by HRJ

We ventured down to the cauldron that is Walter Galt Reserve to play an undefeated Mordi Brae. Won the toss and kicked with a strong breeze towards the Mordialloc end. The first quarter was hard fought, great tackling and pressure. Great run down the wing by Shahaf which resulted in a Ned mark and goal.

Ned, Hopey, both Jamies, Ollie, all had plenty of the ball. We went into the quarter time break with a 5 point lead.

Hampton Rovers 1. 0. 6. Mordi Brae. 0. 1. 1

The second quarter didn’t start off well with Mordi Brae kicking a goal in the first 15 seconds. We tried hard with some strong tackling but were out muscled by a strong side. Ned, Ollie, Zac B and Presley all played well.

Hampton Rovers. 1. 0. 6. Mordi Brae. 5. 5. 35

3rd quarter. We took it up to them for most of the quarter, better in the contests, hard tackling. Ned kicked a great goal, Presley was defending well, Jamie Draheim tough in the contest, Jamie Delaney was strong over the ball, he got steamrolled in a marking contest which flattened him forcing his headband to come off. I can report that both Jamie and the headband are OK.

Ned, Ollie, Zac B, Jamie Draheim, Jamie D, Presley all played well.

Hampton Rovers 2. 4. 16. Mordi Brae. 8. 5. 53

4th quarter. With Mordi Brae kicking with the wind we could have laid down and got run over. We didn’t, the team fought it out to the end, kept pressuring and tackling. Great team Hotton tacking by Ollie and Taj, fantastic effort by Jack Tuffley resulted in a great mark and goal to Jamie Draheim.

Ned, Ollie, Taj, Jamie Draheim, Zac B all had a strong quarter.

Final Scores.

Hampton Rovers. 3. 4. 22. Mordi Brae. 12. 8. 80

Unfortunately out classed by a bigger, stronger team today.

Best players.

Ned, Ollie, Jamie Draheim, Zach B.
