The first quarter saw Ajax have a strong wind advantage and scored a couple of early goals. They were running the ball fast and in numbers which put pressure on our defence and unfortunately by the first break Ajax had a handy 27 point lead. 5.4 (34) to 1.1 (7)
With a a restructure in the center and some height in the back line the second quarter was far better. The boys were more composed and managed to keep Ajax goalless, narrowing the margin to just 11 points at the main break. Ajax 5.8 (38) to Rovers 4.3 (27)
The boys were obviously settling a bit better and we were managing more clearances during the 3rd quarter. Keeping the structure during the third quarter seemed to work well for us but with an unpredictable wind and Ajax still running it fast they went into the final break 22 points down. Ajax 8.13 (61) to Rovers 6.3 (39)
The final quarter unfortunately saw the pressure still being applied by Ajax who seemed to have numbers wherever the boys turned. Ajax ran out winners by 42 points in the end putting on 3 late goals. Ajax 12.14 (86) defeated Rovers 7.4 (46)
