Under 18 Girls vs Prahran (R4)

21 May 2019 by HRJ

Taking the trip to Toorak Park for Round 4 was an afternoon well spent.

Our opponents, Prahran, are tall, fast and have a reputation for being fierce competitors.

Today we wanted to set the tone of the game and instead of weathering a storm we wanted to create the storm.

It was a real arm wrestle for the first quarter and our backline again stood firm.

Tessa, Eliza and Isabel were outstanding in the last line of defence.

Then in the second quarter it started. All over the ground we were running, competing, marking and tackling. It was fantastic to watch. And from all that effort came the goals. We were setting the standard and forcing Prahran to try and match us.

The second half was more of the same. We were well organised. We took marks, tackled fiercely, ran with the ball and used out voices.

The result was more goals brilliantly executed by having space in our forward line. What a great result to kick as many goals as points.

It was also so impressive to see the girls run so hard in warm conditions.

Katy’s tackling, running and kicking was a highlight.
Alex’s courage was brilliant.
Bella’s hard running, marking and contesting again proved a major advantage.
Jaye’s toughness after a big hit.
Jasmine’s run.
Tessa’s discipline in defence.
And Caitlin’s running goal was pretty special.

What a great team.

Big thanks to Bec and Anika for coming to watch even though injured. Big shout out to Lilly’s dad, Shane, for taking on the Boundary Umpire gig.

Please heed Sal’s and my request to let us know through Team Stuff your attendance and availability no later than Tuesday for training and Friday for match day.
