Under 18 Girls vs St Kilda City (R9)

20 June 2018 by HRJ

As Jacko said “they were nervous”.

Well done to everyone for getting to the footy yesterday. When I listened to the news this morning I heard many games were cancelled and teams forfeited due to the tough conditions.

Bravo to all including those on the sidelines.

Well it was a tough game and tough conditions but we showed as a team that the best in our comp were a little bit nervous of how much we have improved.

There was one passage of play towards the end of the last quarter where we moved the ball from the back line to our forward line with a string of perfect handballs to players running past. It was an absolute delight to watch and I am am sure we will see much more of this in the weeks ahead.

What did we learn.

Every minute of a game counts and starting well is as important as fighting hard at the end.
Communication on a tough day against great opponents is important.
Hot chips after a game are fantastic. Thank you Brian, Alex’s Dad.
Losing well still isn’t as much fun as winning but its great to see you all improving.

Well done to:
Eliza for a fantastic hard fought game.
Annie for her run and carry of the ball. Your speed is a real asset.
Amelia for toughing it out despite tendonitis.
Jemma for fighting hard in the first quarter despite being sick. You should be very proud and I even think we might have gone close to winning if you had of been well and played out the game your first 1/4 was that good.
Holly for fighting hard in the second half and working hard at attacking the ball.
A nice couple of marks for Oriana.

Again thank you to Zoe, Ciara and Tamsyn for coming down to the game despite being injured.

And thank you again to Brian for the hot chips.

Jacko is away next week so if anyone would like to be asst coach or maybe coach for that matter let me know.

Richard
