Under 8 Violet v East Brighton Vamps (R9)

6 July 2019 by HRJ

After the arctic conditions of last week, it was a bit of a luxury to play at Hurlingham Park with a later start time and patches of sunshine.

It looked like the U8s Violet boys all enjoyed a bit of a sleep-in, because they hit the ground running from the start. Led by captains Tom F and Hunter, the team was out to show off some skills: the first quarter saw some strong defensive work, keeping the Vampires goalless, while the Rovers’ forward line chipped away to take an early lead.

It was a lead they managed to build on, through some great midfield pressure and solid efforts at both ends of the ground.

It’s great to see the boys enjoying their footy, and this game showed how far they’ve come in terms of keeping the ball moving and making strong leads. The boys are really working well together on the field, no doubt thanks to all the work they’re doing at training. Special mention to Jock for helping out the team this week and doing a great job.

Enjoy the break everyone and Go U8s Violet!
