Under 8 Violet vs Beaumaris (R8)

25 June 2019 by HRJ

An early start back at Boss James Oval saw us take on the Beaumaris Sharks, and this was our first real taste of winter.

The cold, foggy and dewy conditions were a real test for the boys who were coming up against a very good outfit, who came out of the blocks quickly with the first couple of goals and definitely had the Hampton backline under pressure for most of the first half.

Coach Damo threw the magnets around in the second half, which seemed to do the trick. The boys work rate lifted with lots of tackles and pressure acts, swinging the momentum back the Rovers way. As a result, the midfield started winning more of the ball and moved it quickly into the forward line which resulted in multiple goals.

Our two captains, Callan and Ned, did a fantastic job on the day and it was an excellent game, played with great spirit, plenty of talk, encouragement and an amazing team effort across the four quarters. A great job by the boys this week, and we look forward to our game next week against East Brighton Vampires.
