Hampton Rovers Under 9 Yellow had a great start to the season in a tough match against Beaumaris in the rain. The wet conditions made scoring challenging and after a slow start Rovers got on top at the end of the first quarter with a nice opportune goal to Hewie Sawatzki.
Second quarter we dominated but kicked 4 points with Lachlan Curtis lifting in the forward line.
Third quarter we held Beaumaris scoreless where they had the wind which set us up for a big last quarter. With only 1 goal each at three quarter time, and Rovers having 17 players in the last quarter we asked the boys to hit targets and they ended up kicking 4 goals!
Massimo Champness got us going driving the ball into the goal square and Ben Jebb kicked 3 final quarter goals to set the team alight. Ben Montgomery also had a great last quarter getting plenty of the ball and scoring a goal.
Overall a great start to the season and the boys will only get better from here.
